1 WHAT TURMERIC CONTAINS

Turmeric (Curcuma Longa) is a spice most commonly used as the main ingredient in curry.

Its positive health effects come from the main active molecule – curcumin. Ginger also contains curcumin in small amounts.

The main action of curcumin is anti-inflammatory. Turmeric is very effective in people with chronic inflammation and pain - osteoarthritis, nerve root suppression, trauma and more.

Turmeric is considered the most healing spice in the world and as such is the most studied. Next in the list of studie are garlic, cinnamon and ginger.

Turmeric, however useful, has one major problem. Its active ingredient, curcumin, is extremely difficult to absorb through the intestine. Even with overdosage of over 10g. curcumin from nutritional supplements (not turmeric, it takes a lot of tablespoons), the effect will be weak.

In order to pass from the intestine into the blood, curcumin is combined with other substances to aid its absorption.

Most often the combination is with piperine (the active ingredient in black pepper).

MEDICINAL BENEFITS OF TAKING TURMERIC (CURCUMIN)
Turmeric moderately to severely reduces any inflammatory response in the body. Its anti-inflammatory effect is comparable, even stronger than that of some medicines.
This is its main mechanism of action.

PAIN Moderately to severely reduces pain of the inflammatory type - arthritis, postoperative, trauma, burns, compression of nerves, etc. With appropriate absorption, the analgesic effect exceeds that of Parcetamol.

C-REACTIVE PROTEIN It lowers C-reactive protein (CRP) slightly because of its anti-inflammatory action.

ARTHRITIC SYMPTOMS Turmeric moderately reduces the symptoms of osteoarthritis - pain, stiffness, edema with prolonged intake.

SWELLING It reduces the swelling of the inflammatory type.

ANTIOXIDANTS Turmeric moderately increases the activity of antioxidant enzymes. This is one of the mechanisms by which it prevents malignancies.

DEPRESSION Slightly to moderately reduces depressive symptoms with prolonged intake.

TRIGLYCERIDESA slight decrease in triglyceride levels is possible. It can be combined with omega 3

"GOOD" HDL-CHOLESTEROL Curcumin slightly increases the god HDL cholesterol. It can be combined with another, such as garlic, for even better effect.

TOTAL CHOLESTEROL A slight decrease in total cholesterol. For maximum effect, it can be combined with another.

NITROGEN OXIDE Curcumin moderately increases the concentration of nitric oxide, leading to dilation of blood vessels and suppression of atherosclerosis.

MALIGNANCIES Slightly reduces the risk of colon cancer, prostate cancer and more.

INTESTINAL INFLAMMATORY DISEASES Curcumin slightly reduces the symptoms of Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis. Effective in maintaining longer-term remissions.

INSULIN SENSITIVITY In people with metabolic syndrome (pre-type 2 diabetes), turmeric slightly increases insulin sensitivity.

INSULIN SECRETION
In people with metabolic syndrome, turmeric slightly increases insulin secretion.

DEMENTIA Slightly decreases mental decline with advancing age.

BLOOD SUPPLY TO THE TISSUES Slight increase in blood supply due to dilation of blood vessels.

3 THE CURATIVE BENEFITS OF TURMERIC (CURCUMIN) PROVEN IN LABORATORY TESTING

MEDICINAL BENEFITS OF TAKING TURMERIC (CURCUMIN)ON THE EFFECT BLOOD COAGULATION
Turmeric moderately reduces platelet aggregation moderately ("thinning the blood"). This reduces the risk of blood clotting.

ANXIETY Possible slight reduction in symptoms of anxiety disorder.

CARDIAC TISSUE Turmeric may slightly reduce the enlargement of the heart due to hypertension.
DIABETIC ANGIOPATHY Possible reduction in damage to blood vessels in diabetes.
DIABETIC NEPHROPATHY Possible reduction in kidney damage (and proteinuria) in diabetes.
OVERWEIGHT Possible decrease in growth of fat cells. This has been shown to reduce chronic inflammation in overweight.

4 SIDE EFFECTS OF TURMERIC (CURCUMIN)

Side effects with curcumin doses up to 6g. daily are minimal and are limited to bloating, gas (flotation) and yellow stool color.

Other possible side effects are:

  • Nausea;

  • Diarrhea;

  • Increased risk of bleeding;

  • Enlarged liver enzymes;

  • Increased contractions of the gallbladder, uterus in pregnant women;

Just like garlic and ginger at high doses, potentiation of blood thinners such as Sintrom, Aspirin, Clopidogrel may be enhanced.

Dermatitis (eczema) may occur with external skin application of turmeric.

5 WHO SHOULD NOT TAKE TURMERIC (CURCUMIN)

People undergoing surgery should stop taking turmeric several days before it because of the increased risk of bleeding.

In gallstones (gallstone disease), gallbladder dyskinesia, GERD, hemorrhagic diathesis, the high doses of turmeric should be carefully considered.

6 HOW TO TAKE TURMERIC (CURCUMIN)

If you are going to take turmeric in the form of a spice, you must combine it with black pepper for better absorption of curcumin.

Otherwise the only strong enough effect will be the anti-inflammatory in the gut. Without black pepper, curcumin will not pass through the intestine into the bloodstream.

Piperine increases the bioavailability of curcumin by up to 20 times.

Curcumin is fat soluble, so the diet in which you add turmeric and pepper should contain fat. This will increase its absorption.

When taking turmeric for inflammatory bowel disease, effective doses are 2 to 4 grams. daily without having to combine with pepper.

If you are taking a curcumin diet supplement, the dose is 500mg - 2000mg. daily.

Again, the additive should be combined with piperine, otherwise the effects will be minimal.

You can also take new forms of curcumin, which are not mixed with piperine but are additionally saturated and with higher absorption.
